Manawatu College - Haere I Tou Kaha - Personal Best

2017 COSTS & FEES

The College is mindful of the many school-related costs caregivers face throughout the course of a school year.  To assist parents in planning to meet these costs a comprehensive overview is presented below.

Family Accounts - Do you have one?

An increasing number of caregivers are setting up family accounts with the College, with regular automatic payments of $10 per week per student able to cover most or all the expenses encountered during the year.  An AP of $15  per week is necessary to cover a new student in their first year (because of the cost of uniform) and this can be dropped to $10 per week per student for subsequent years.  Account surpluses are refunded when students leave or by request at any time.  If you would like to take advantage of this facility and have not already done so please complete the attached AP form, and return it to the College Office or take it into your bank.

School Subscription (donation)*                                                                                           55.00

The Board of Trustees requests this sum to enable it to provide additional resources,

services and activities which will directly benefit students e.g. sports equipment,

cultural activities, the College Yearbook.  Funding from the Ministry does not provide

these resources.

All items of uniform are available (with minimal mark-up) from the College’s Uniform Shop.

For an appointment to purchase a complete uniform please phone Ms Jane O’Neill ph 363 6550 (school hours).  Please allow up to 30 minutes to outfit a student.

LOCKERS

An increasing number of lockers are available in the College.  Junior students have allocation priority.  An annual lease fee of $15 per locker and a refundable key deposit of $15 needs to be paid in order to secure a locker for the year.  Mr Chad Ellwood has oversight of locker administration.  He can be contacted through the College Office.

MUSIC TUITION FEES

Musical instrument and vocal tuition is optional for students at all levels at Manawatu College.  A standard fee of $25 per student per term pays for about half of a tutor’s time (the school is funded by the Ministry for the rest) and some of the costs of instrument repairs and replacement.

SPORTS

Code Fees:  some sports have set player registration or affiliation fees which are paid to the sporting bodies.

The fees are approximately:

-  Hockey                            $110

-  Soccer                               $40

-  Touch                                $35

-  Basketball                          $70

-  Netball                               $40

-  Rugby                                $50

-  Softball                              $15

The fees should be similar to these ones.  Code fees are due at the start of the season.

CAMPS, TRIPS & ACTIVITIES

The nature and frequency of educational ventures away from the College depends upon the Year Level of the student and the subjects taken.

The College’s policy is to give students and caregivers as much notice as possible of the costs and timing of impending camps, trips (including sports trips) and activities.

The ‘regular’ camps and activities are:

            -     December:  4-day Year 12-13 Camp.  Cost is approximately $180.  Attendance optional

            -     August:  5-day Year 10 Camps.  Cost is approximately $180.  Attendance is optional.
