The Trust is a registered charitable trust created to “generally advance the education of pupils at the College”.

The Trust welcomes applications through the School for support for educational activities. Priority is given to supporting those activities that benefit groups of students, rather than individuals. The Trust will from time to time fundraise to support key capital projects, and for student scholarships.

The Trust is governed in accordance with its Trust Deed, by a Trust Board elected by members each year. The Trust Board is made up of past pupils, staff, student and Board of Trustee representatives.

The Annual Accounts are audited each year by an independent auditor. The Annual General Meeting is held each year to:

• Receive an Annual Report

• Receive Audited Financial Accounts

• Elect Trust Board Members

• Elect an Auditor

• Consider any other relevant business

HOW THE PUPILS HAVE BENEFITED

Since inception in 1985, the Trust has supported the educational aspirations of the pupils of Manawatu College, Foxton, through disbursements from investment revenue and grants received.

Disbursements to the College have exceeded $136, 643 (31.12.2022).

Donations contributed to provision of:

• College vehicles

• Sound system (for the hall)

• Sport and Cultural uniforms • Computer Hardware and software

• Assembly Hall and outdoor seating

• Student Lockers

• Field trip support

• Scholarships for tertiary study

• Drama and dance equipment

• Gym and Outdoor Pursuits equipment

• Music equipment

Membership is open to anyone, including companies and organisations. A person, or entity, becomes a member by contributing money to the protected capital fund, or gifting property and/or services to the Trust.

Categories of Membership

There are various categories of membership

• Pupil membership: $1 per annum

• Ordinary Membership: $10 per annum

• Silver Membership: $200

• Gold Membership: $300

• Diamond Membership: $400

• Platinum Membership: $500

• Financial Life Membership: $1,000

Foundation Membership was available until December 1986, and Life Membership (as distinct from Financial Life Membership) may be conferred by election for outstanding service to the Trust.

Membership status may be upgraded at any time, e.g. from Silver to Gold, by payment of the additional $100 membership donation. A full list of members is available in each Annual Report.
